Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has started work on a contract worth £27 million to build an innovative fitness and wellbeing centre in Leeds, which will be called ‘Holt Park Active’. The centre is being funded through the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and built through the Leeds Education Partnership for Leeds City Council.
Due to open in December 2013, the development will replace Holt Park Leisure Centre and include a twenty five metre swimming pool, café, older people’s hub, learning disability services, gym, hydrotherapy pool and activity rooms.
Interserve operations director Gareth Edwards said:
“Interserve is responsible for delivering 23 schemes under the Leeds Building Schools for the Future Programme, representing some £350 million of investment for the people of Leeds. This project will bring tremendous benefits to the local community and, with work getting underway, we are really looking forward to making it a reality.” |
