Kincluny Village

There are plans to create Scotland's first sustainable community. Kincluny Village, located in the Deeside Valley is set to be the country's largest sustainable construction project, and will be built to the highest specification in terms of eco technologies.

It is intended that the village will compromise over 1, 500 houses ranging in price between £90, 000 and £500, 000. A minimum of 30% of the houses are to be aimed at low income earners. 

The village will be built on a former quarry brownfield site in the Deeside Valley. The area is recognised as having a distinct character formed by a coherent mix of recognisable building types, material, streets and public spaces - a character that the project developers Chap Homes say they aim to capture in Kincluny.

The Robert Gordon University's Centre for Understanding Sustainable Practices has been commissioned to research optimised eco practices, and it is reported that state of the art Scandanavian technology will also be used to manage the site.
