Established in 1985 as one of the country’s leading seats of specialist learning, the Arts University College at Bournemouth has gained a glowing reputation for producing talented graduates in art, design, media and performance across the creative industries.
Staff and students need a well resourced environment in which to practice to the highest professional standards so Greendale Construction of Poole were the natural choice for three further major projects on the campus as they have already established a strong history with the AUCB.
The most high profile work is being carried out on the new North Extension or “Cube” as it’s known. It’s a four storey building and Greendale have installed a café and gallery on the ground floor with a film screening room, edit suites, design studio, production office and other accommodation occupying the upper levels.
“We have just recently been tasked with providing the landscaping around this impressive building” says Greendale Director Chris Kane “The Cube is due for handover in September and the landscaping will be completed later in the autumn. The total value of the overall project is £2.5 million.”
Also set for completion in the autumn is the refectory extension which is a contract price of £850,000 and which more than doubles the area of the existing refectory facility. The new extension will also boast a new roof top terrace leading out from the bar area.
With students arriving back on campus at The Arts University College at Bournemouth at the end of September, the race is on for Greendale to complete various upgrades and refurbishment work in the Animation Studio, The Gallery, Model Making facility and the Fashion and Illustration area. This £220,000 project is ongoing throughout the summer and Greendale’s Chris Kane is in no doubt everything will be in place for the start of the new academic year.
“We pride ourselves on completing projects to the highest possible standards the budget all allow, and Greendale are renowned for our quality finish, these are all an integral part of why The Arts University College at Bournemouth awarded Greendale this prestigious contract” says Chris. |
