Door U-values available on Force 8 doors

Door U-values available on Force 8 doors
As the introduction date for the new door U-value Building Regulations approaches (1st October 2010), Force 8 is not content in the knowledge that all our composite doors will achieve a U-value of less than the required 1.8 W/(m2.K). Following extensive testing, involving precise calculations of every element of our composite doors, down to the minute details of the proportions of moulded and standard areas of the slab, the glazing cassettes, glass spacer bars etc., we are already able to prove by means of certification that all our doors currently achieve a U-value of 1.5 W/(m2.K) or less, which is of course far better than the minimum compliance U-value.  In addition, we can provide the U-value for each of our individual door designs.

Force 8 has always been synonymous with being at the forefront of innovation, constantly evolving and enhancing our products and manufacturing processes with new technologies.  Measures are currently in place to take our doors further forward with security and thermal efficiency initiatives that will give, we believe, the best quality product with the lowest U-values in the industry.

Our innovations include:

High security 5 point locking mechanism -  with integral, scratch resistant Poly Vinyl Chloride edging giving far greater thermal efficiency than the previous metal edging, without compromising strength and security.
Poly Vinyl Chloride reinforcing – offering far greater thermal efficiency than standard metal reinforcements and with a density of 1450kg/m3, strength is not compromised.  This reinforcing also outperforms steel in relation to screw retention properties, invaluable for the weight of a composite door and as it is manufactured from recycled material, is more environmentally friendly too.
Three part cassette system – Security enhanced by additional corner screw locations and no more unsightly screw plugs on the internal face.

As we go to press, five of our new specification doors are to undergo the PAS023/PAS024 tests for weather tightness and enhanced security at Chiltern Dynamics.

For absolute clarity and guaranteed compliance, every Force 8 composite door includes confirmation of the exact, individual U-value.  This progressive step will, we are sure, be invaluable for Specifiers, Installers and Homeowners alike.
