The ABS capped resin shower trays measure just 40mm in height and all designs weigh-in at under 25kg. According to Lakes Bathrooms, the weight of these trays has been carefully engineered to ensure that they are robust and yet fit neatly to the parameters for a one-man lift.

Pricing for the new ABS range is being held at 2011 rates, so retailing from just £92 plus VAT.

Sheet moulded composite (SMC) shower trays are the new entry level range, designed as a high volume, lower-cost option to traditional stone resin.


As a new manufacturing methodology in most of the bathroom market, yet well proven in other industries, SMC uses fibre reinforced polymers, moulded with heat and pressure.  Quality is consistently high says Lakes Bathrooms and, thanks to the impregnated fibres, the resulting shower trays are strong and yet lightweight.


Integral to the design of the new SMC trays from Lakes Bathrooms is the pattern of strength forming ribs that criss-cross the back of the tray. The underside is hollow to reduce unnecessary weight, yet the tray is robust thanks to this strengthening lattice.
